Me again! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend as much as I did. Lot’s of playtime for me thanks to the nasty weather we’ve been having. Staying out late, sleeping in. Ah yes, I loved every minute of it. Although, I must admit, I am beginning to miss the sun a bit. You win some, you lose some I guess.
Ok, so if you are anything like me you like to get all of the mileage you can out of your wardrobe. If I invest in a piece I make sure it can be worn a couple of different ways as well as year round. One of my favorite things to do with my summer dresses is throw sweaters on top of them when winter rolls in and the temperatures begin to plummet. The outcome is très chic and it’s super fucking easy to do. The best part is that you look put together but you actually feel like you’re wearing a sleeping bag. Sah good. Below is my mini guide to creating your very own sweater over dress look.
1. Mini is most flattering
- I am fully aware that my dress here is a midi/borderline maxi, but the mini is the most universally flattering for this look.
2.Tight on bottom, loose up top
- Keep the mini tight. Now I’m not saying wear a body con dress, although you could if you really wanted? But why? What I’m saying is make sure your sweater is the bulkier piece out of the two…aka “tight on bottom, loose up top”. Got it? Mkay?
3. Stay away from true summer
- I think this is like too fucking obvious but some people out there really worry me, so I’m including this point. Please don’t wear a dress with a true summer print/color (i.e.- flamingo’s, flip-flops, neons, and so on). Stick to summer neutrals or pastels for this transitional look. Please and thank you.
