Two weeks ago I was trashed on wine exploring Seattle with my best friend. Man it was fun. Writing this post makes me wish I was exploring the emerald city rather than sitting at my 9-5 desk job- ew. Reality blows.
Seattle is a city Mariss (the bff) and I had been dying to visit, so when we were given the opportunity to go, there was absolutely no hesitation. The plane tickets were booked. We only had a few short days to run-a-muck, so the self-inflicted pressure to check everything off our list was on!
Let’s talk details.
WHERE TO STAY
We stayed at Hotel Andra. The boutique hotel is located in the heart of downtown- 4th and Virginia. It is a stone’s throw away from all of Seattle’s landmark spots- pikes place, the great wheel, space needle, etc. Not to mention the hotel’s views and amenities were fantastic. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Andra, should you ever visit the city.
WHAT TO DO/SEE/EAT
Le Pichet- Lucky to have stumbled upon this french cafe. And when I say french, I mean french. Everyone inside was speaking it and the entire menu was, you guessed it, in french. We were definitely out of our element, but it was probably my favorite food place of the entire trip. We ordered wine(duh) and a charcuterie board before moving onto somewhere new for lunch. Damn it was good.
Pikes Place- Fulfilling my MTV real world fantasy! It’s everything I imagined it would be: flowers, produce, seafood, art vendors and then some. So fun to walk through and explore. Could sit there and people watch for hours.
The gum wall- Beneath Pikes Place is a cool/highly unsanitary gum wall. A fun little spot to leave your mark on the city or have your photo taken in front of.
The Great Wheel- Mariss and I were positive that everyone thought we were lesbian lovers during our ride. Especially because I was carrying a bouquet of tulips after our Pikes Place pit stop lol. The view from the great wheel was gorgeous. You could see the snow capped mountains to the left, the bay in front and the city skyline behind you.
Moore Coffee- Best little coffee shop. The perfect place to sip on a latte while waiting for the rain to subside. We loved everything from the decor to the graham cracker garnish.
Steelhead Diner- A recommendation from a few people before heading to the city. Definitely did not disappoint. The view and food were so good! We decided to split the smoked salmon hash. Tasted just as good as it looks.
Kerry park- Was our favorite of the trip, but probably because we were two bottles deep (wine) upon arrival ha. Kp is a small park overlooking the city. It was nice to sit there and just soak in the city… Especially on a solid buzz.
Space Needle- No words for the view! Chugging wine from the bar at top wasn’t bad either.
1st Starbucks- Pretty cool to check out the very first Starbucks. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves on a slow Tuesday morning. Also located in the Pikes place area.
I know this is a pretty squatty list of recommendations, but it was a very short trip-less than 72 hours to be exact. Already missing the fresh tulips and decadent latte’s. Hoping to make another trip back soon- maybe with the boy next time.
