We’re half way through the week which means four more days until I head to Seattle! I’m still in disbelief. My best friend and I booked our plane tickets a few months back and have been so busy ever since that it has only seemed like a distant trip up until these past few days. Neither of us have been to the emerald city so if you’ve been and have any restaurant/bar/activity recommendations please leave them in the comments section below. We’d greatly appreciate it. Honestly, we’ll be the blind leading the fucking blind during our travels so anything at this point helps lol.
Listen. Throughout college I worked at all of the best opening price point retailers- think Forever 21, DSW, H&M. Weekend drinks were typically paid for thanks to the aggressive “frat daddy’s” at the bars, but mama still had to pay for her weekend wardrobe somehow. Therefore, clocking hours at the local mall was a must. Not only did I get a sweet discount on my bodycon dresses (a whopping 10%, why fucking bother?), but I was also able to shop the new receipts first. A college girl’s dream come true. Anyways, I desperately needed my $40 paycheck to go far and I kept getting frustrated at the fact that I was ultimately throwing my money away on these “bargain” products. I mean, raise your hand if you’ve bought something at one of these places to only have it last one or two wears? True defeat. Fortunately, after some time, I learned to shop smart and I was no longer getting burned on my stacks of paper (albeit minuscule).
today’s look is drowning in patches. The trend erupted late last year and hasn’t slowed down since. They are fun, personal, and a little off-beat. I believe an oversized jacket is the easiest way to take on this trend. Fortunately, there are so many great options available. The one downside is it is that it is practically impossible to narrow. This one hereis taunting me, though. The pearl detailing is everything.
If you are one too, you know that the generations before us view us as entitled, lazy, lost, impatient and spoiled.
I must admit, they do have one thing right- we are definitely impatient. We love instant gratification. But, can you blame us? We’ve been spoiled by growing up in a world of technology. Information, entertainment, and being “connected” is only one click away all day, every day. It is our norm. And because we’ve grown accustomed to such, when we want something we want it now. I like to think of us as the Veruca Salt generation.
I found inspiration for this look while perusing pinterest (image found here).
*shamless plug* dont forget to follow along if you aren’t already! My shit is good!
I’m a big fan of layering and it definitely comes across on my ‘street style‘ pin board. Layering adds a great deal of character to any outfit with it’s added details, textures, and prints. The look I’m wearing here is the perfect way to transition into your spring/summer slip dresses. A feminine dress with a t-shirt layered underneath is not only comfortable but looks v cool and effortless. Located above the mason-dixon? A leather moto jacket would be the perfect top-off.
